$4,573,000: Bangura v. Cal. State Univ. Northridge

Ms. Bangura was called a liar for six years. She was told that how she was injured was made up and a fiction of civil litigation. After 6.5 hours of deliberation, the jury couldn't have disagreed more by awarding her $4,573,000 + costs and interests under C.C.P. section 998.

Ms. Bangura was sitting in her parked car when she was struck by a student-driver of CSUN driving a Ford 350. The Defense claimed that Ms. Bangura was not struck while in her car but rather she "watched" her vehicle being hit. As a result, Defense claimed she made up (1) how the incident happened and (2) that she was injured.

Ms. Bangura treated nine days after her injuries and continuously for the next six years. Ms. Bangura underwent two spine surgeries, epidural injections, physical therapy, imaging studies, and medication to cope with her symptoms. This medical care accumulated in excess of $400,000 in medical expenses.

Trial lasted from March 17, 2025 through March 28, 2025 in Van Nuys, CA.
